As part of a Battlefield tour to Normandy thirty five Royal Marine and Army officers took part in a sponsored cycle tour from Shrivenham Defence Academy to Bayeux in France and back.

The Conditioning Centre has been set up to provide targeted Strength & Conditioning for people who take their performance seriously. 

The Parkstone Roughnecks, a team from 2391 (Parkstone) Squadron Air Cadets took on a Spartan Challenge in order to raise funds for the JTYAF.  

A massive congratulations and well done to 'The Drinking Team with a Cycling Problem' who took part in the first ever Ride London 100 on August 4th completing the 100 mile route in 5 1/2 hours!  

Matt Harrin is an adult Flight sergeant with 1244 (Swindon) Squadron Air Training Corps and has been a member of the ATC for 16 years.

On Sunday August the 4th Nick and Steve Rogers and Simon Lock will be participating in the first ever RideLondon 100.  

Ian Thornton was extremely honoured to be invited to give a talk at this year’s Winchester Writers’ Conference about the recently published book, ‘Helmand: Diaries of Front-Line Soldiers.’ 

The President of Verwood Rotary Club, Stephen Maycock chose the John Thornton Young Achievers Foundation as his recipient 'Charity of the Year' and presented the JTYAF with a cheque for a fantastic £2200.  

The GG Girls, Gemma Salter and Katherine Farnworth work together at Georgia Group and recently made a  formidable team in the Bupa Great Manchester 10K Run.  

The Bournemouth Shakespeare Players (BSP) are currently rehearsing for their next open-air production of 'Measure for Measure,' by William Shakespeare. 

Courtenay Smith, a  Cadet Warrant Officer at 1606 (Weymouth) Squadron Air Cadets, is fundraising for the JTYAF and taking on one huge challenge.  

The JTYAF was delighted to be selected as the 50th charity and good cause in Dorset to receive a Carbon Stoppers' donation from Yellow Buses. 

Derith Rolfe is an absolutely brilliant cook and an invite to dinner seemed the perfect way to entertain her friends.  

Adam Plant is supporting the JTYAF in a pretty hair raising way.  He started growing his spectacular beard when he began training for the Hell Runner last year.  

Adam a pupil at Ferndown Middle School was awarded a JTYAF Bursary in 2012 to take part in a Windsurfing Course. 

The nation’s favourite 10k running event, the Bupa Great Manchester Run, has seen over a quarter of a million enthusiastic runners pound the streets of Manchester since its first staging in 2003 and the GG Girls, Gemma Slater and Katherine Farnworth will be joining this year's runners.  

Staff from 130 (Bournemouth) Squadron Air Cadets will be attempting to complete the 3 peaks challenge in under 24 hours in aid of the the John Thornton Young Achievers Foundation.

Air Cadet Junior Leaders Course XIV has raised a staggering £17,000 for the JTYAF.

The JTYAF is delighted that the publication of  John's Afghanistan diaries in a new book entitled ‘Helmand: Diaries of Front-Line Soldiers’ has been such a great success. 

The Angel Inn, Ferndown, has collected a fantastic £228.27 through kind donations from their customers.
