DorsetFit 10-Hour Walkathon Raises over £700 for John’s Foundation
/A huge thank you goes to Hannah at DorsetFit for organising a fantastic 10-hour Walkathon in aid of the John Thornton Young Achievers Foundation.
The event began bright and early at King George V Playing Field in Ferndown, with Hannah setting up at 5am ready to welcome the first walkers and runners from 6am. Throughout the day, more than 35 people joined in, walking and running laps in support of the JTYAF.
Participants recorded their progress every three laps, equivalent to 2km, and together they covered an impressive total distance of 224km, or 139.2 miles. It was wonderful to see so many families and supporters taking part in an event that promoted activity, wellbeing and community spirit.
With the walkathon and raffle combined, the event raised a brilliant £744.99 for the JTYAF. This generous support will help John’s Foundation continue providing bursaries, scholarships and opportunities for young people to develop their confidence, talents and ambitions.
We are extremely grateful to Hannah, DorsetFit, and everyone who walked, ran, donated, bought raffle tickets or supported the event in any way. It was a wonderful day, and the kindness shown will make a real difference to local young lives.
