The Bournemouth Youth Handbell Team (BYHT) has recently received a concert tour invitation to Milan and the JTYAF is delighted to be able to support them by part funding the expenses for five of the performers.

Emily Cooper is a Guide at St Leonards and has been given a fantastic opportunity to join a once in a lifetime trip with her school.  She is extremely busy raising funds to pay for a place on a volunteering expedition to Borneo and the JTYAF is happy to contribute towards her equipment costs.

The JTYAF is delighted to be able to help the local Guides and Brownies and has already made a whole range of awards in 2014, supporting some fantastic opportunities.

Stephanie Garlick is taking on the challenge of Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest mountain in Africa, to raise money for 'CLEFT.'  

A recent visit to Marwell Zoo by Brownsea Class from Beaucroft Foundation School was a great success.  The pupils enjoyed a ride on the Land Train, had lunch with their friends and were excited to be able to get up close to the animals.  

The John Thornton Young Achievers Foundation was honoured to be invited to present awards at the end of season concert for the Dorset Music Service County Ensembles. 

The John Thornton Young Achievers Foundation has supported the Coda Fiddle Orchestra for five years, providing music scholarships for students who have been assessed as showing above average ability. 

Presenting awards to the students at Ferndown Upper School (FUS) is the best day of the year for the John Thornton Young Achievers Foundation (JTYAF).  

Winter sports are certainly in the news at the moment with GB achievements in the Winter Olympics and we have recently made one of our first awards of 2014 to support a local young lady who is determined to get to the next Games in 2018. 

The JTYAF is delighted to be able to encourage the uptake of music lessons for orchestral instruments by offering bursaries which will cover lessons for three terms and also exam fees. 

The four Qualified Junior Leaders (QJL’s) selected for this years JTYAF funded expedition to trek to Everest Base Camp, were Joseph Champion, Christopher Cresswell, Callum Reid and Roderick Mountain.  

The JTYAF was privileged to provide the funds for a life changing volunteering project for six Air Cadet Junior Leaders (JL's)  from Course XIV.  

Alec Cottrell is an outstanding cadet from 2185 (Wareham) Squadron and has recently completed a competitive selection process for a place on a Qualified Aerospace Instructors Course (QAIC) with the Air Cadets.  

Jake Dove is an exceptional leader and recently achieved his Duke of Edinburgh's Gold Award.  

Annabel Macklin is working towards her Duke of Edinburgh's Gold award and has been selected to attend the Sound and Music Summer School at the Purcell School of Music. 

The Dorset and Wilts Wing Air Training Corps Training and Development Squadron (TDS) provides a range of courses aimed at developing leadership and other personal skills for cadets across the Wing.  

3rd Ferndown Brownies will be visiting our capital city in July thanks to the JTYAF who will be funding the mini bus to take them on this great adventure. 

Nicole Tait is a member of 149 (Poole)  Air Training Corps and has been lucky enough to be selected to attend a ten day camp at RAF Akrotiri in Cyprus. 

Fenella Houlton and Beth Dooley are taking to the seas as part of the assessment for their Duke of Edinburgh's Gold Award.

Four lucky Fire Cadets who recently passed out from the Christchurch Dorset Fire and Rescue Service Cadet Scheme, have been selected to travel to Germany this summer as part of the European Cadet Exchange.
