George, a young member of the Dorset Expedition Society, has been awarded a grant towards a Trans Andes Expedition to Ecuador this summer.
He was chosen for the team after a gruelling selection weekend in Dartmoor to test both mental and physical endurance along with his leadership skills and motivation.
During his trip he will fly to the second highest capital city in the world, Quito, which stands at 11,000ft. He will travel to Ecuador along with a group of 15 young people aged 15 - 18 for 4 weeks to climb several peaks, mountain biking through the valley of volcanoes, canoeing the upper reaches of the Amazon River and trekking through the Amazon jungle.
George is keeping a diary of his trip which we look forward to reading once he’s back.
