From Bursary Support to the World Stage: A Former Award Winner’s Thank You

We were delighted to hear from a former JTYAF award winner whose bursary helped her buy a drum kit and continue pursuing her ambition of becoming a professional drummer. She shared that the support she received, together with the encouragement and values inspired by John, gave her the confidence to believe in herself and pursue music as a career.

Today, she is enjoying an extraordinary chapter in her career, touring internationally with Lenny Kravitz. Over the past two and a half years, she has performed across Europe, the United States, South America and Australia. When back in London, she also leads her own band, Jas and Chum, and serves on the faculty at the Royal College of Music, where she mentors emerging musicians.

Her message was a heartfelt reminder of the lasting impact that support like this can have. She described her life in music as a dream come true and expressed her sincere thanks once again to the Foundation for helping her take those first important steps. We are incredibly proud to see former award winners thriving and inspiring others through their achievements.
