The JTYAF was delighted to support a student from Ferndown Upper School with essential kit for an exciting World Challenge expedition to Eswatini and Mozambique. This incredible opportunity will take her across southern Africa, combining community living, mountain trekking, wildlife experiences and marine conservation.
Our award winner has worked incredibly hard to raise the £5,000 needed for the trip. Her fundraising efforts have shown real creativity and determination, from making fudge to sell at local craft fairs to selling clothes at car boot sales, upcycling furniture, and creating handmade flowers and crochet gifts.
During the expedition, she will spend time living alongside rural communities, trek through remote mountain ranges, experience iconic safaris in Kruger National Park, and contribute to Indian Ocean marine research. Each part of the journey will offer valuable opportunities to develop confidence, independence, leadership and resilience.
This promises to be a truly life-changing experience, giving her the chance to connect with people, wildlife and conservation projects in a powerful and memorable way. We are proud to support her as she prepares for this adventure and look forward to hearing all about it when she returns.
