These Boots Were Made for the Coastal Tab!

Congratulations and huge thanks, to all the Coastal Tabbers who took part in the 15 miler along the Jurassic Coast on Saturday 11th June. Everyone completed the course and arrived at the Royal Marines Memorial on the cliff top at Emmets Hill, to lay a poppy in memory of fallen. Lt John Thornton RM was serving with 40 Commando Royal Marines when he was tragically killed in Afghanistan in 2008.

Laying the poppies was a poignant end to their challenge and even more so for the Royal Marine veterans who took part. We were delighted to see our friends from the Royal Marines Association too. They had come along to support the event and had worked really hard on the memorial garden. It look absolutely beautiful.

We can’t thank Kieron and his team of volunteers from JK House Training Centre enough for organising this great event. It was a huge success. The Coastal Tabbers were a lovely bunch of people and it was great to see some familiar faces together with people new to the challenge.

Thanks must also go to the team of volunteers from 2358 (Ferndown) Squadron RAF Air Cadets who arrived super early in the morning and provided invaluable support with car parking and preparations for the walkers.

Rob was however the star. He spent most of the day in the JTYAF minibus ferrying the walkers to and fro and also the volunteers. It wouldn’t have happened without him.
