Emma's Black Mountains Trail Marathon raises over £800!

Emma is a great friend of the JTYAF and has been supporting the charity since 2016 when she organised a Quiz Night as a fundraiser during her time as an Air Cadet Junior Leader on Course XVII. The Black Mountain Trail Marathon was Emma’s 5th fundraising event and by far the toughest yet. We can’t thank her enough for the incredible total of over £2700 that she has now raised for John’s Foundation!

In 2017 Emma ran her first Half Marathon and after completing two more Half Marathons she was keen to push her challenges to the next level. Signing up for the TEC Black Mountains Trail Marathon with just 7 weeks to go before the event, certainly took things to the next level! A Marathon is in itself a huge test of endurance and stamina but with the added terrain of the Black Mountains this event was probably the hardest trail running challenge in South Wales.

Before the event Emma commented

This is my first marathon so I wanted to try and raise some money for JTYAF, a very very worthy cause, and knowing that I am raising money for them will give me the motivation I need to get the miles in!

After the event she told us,

I've now completed this event and can confirm it was absolutely disgusting but the donations kept me going when I was in the hurt locker (i.e. most of it)

Emma absolutely smashed this challenge and should be incredibly proud of her achievements, not only to cross the finish line but also to raise £832.50 in sponsorship in the process. We can’t thank Emma enough for her continued support of the JTYAF and our thanks must also go to Emma’s friends and family for their generosity.
