Duke of Edinburgh's Award

The JTYAF has supported seven young people in Dorset so far this year with enrolment fees and expedition fees, enabling them to take part in the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme.

Without financial assistance from the JTYAF, their access to the fantastic opportunities that the DofE has to offer would not have been possible.

Young people progress through three levels of DofE programmes to achieve a Bronze, Silver or Gold Award. Taking part builds confidence and develops self-esteem. It requires persistence, commitment and has a lasting impact on the attitudes and outlook of all young people who take part.

John Thornton achieved his D of E Gold and the JTYAF is delighted to have developed a strong partnership with the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, Dorset, supporting local young people since 2010.
