Congratulations to the Marathon Charity Truck Pull Team

Congratulations to Daryl Price and his Marathon Charity Truck Pull Team, who pulled a 2.5 tonne truck a distance of 27 miles around Poole.

You may think that this was a crazy challenge and you'd be quite right, but they did it! They started off at Wareham Quay, then headed to Corfe, Sandbanks via Studland, over the ferry, up Evening Hill, through Lilliput and then onto Poole, Hamworthy, Lytchett Minster and back to Wareham via Sandford.   27 miles in 11 1/2 hours.  A punishing physical challenge but one for which they were well prepared and determined to complete. They trained for six months for the event, dragging huge tractor tyres along the promenade from Sandbanks to Boscombe, speed marching with weight along the coastal path and just generally beasted themselves a couple of times a week. This monster challenge certainly attracted some interest and the guys managed to raise almost £600 on the day from motorists and well wishers.  Added to their online fundraising and money raised during their training sessions the Marathon Charity Truck Pull has raised almost £2500 for the John Thornton Young Achievers Foundation. Daryl Price conveyed his thanks to the team.

Well done to all of the guys for pulling so strong right to end.  A big thank you to all the helpers, without you it couldn't have happened!

Pete Thornton commented.

What an amazing achievement for this great team of guys. We are so grateful for this fantastic support and we are totally in awe of the effort involved in this challenge.  The money raised will be directly invested in local young people and will help them to achieve their ambitions and dreams.
