Air Cadet Junior Leaders on Course 24 hit £25,000 for the JTYAF!

The Air Cadet Junior Leaders on Course 24 have organised an incredible range of fundraising activities. From canal paddles, spinathons, 30 milers, football tournaments, walks, cycles, and bag packs, to name just a few. Their innovative ideas were endless.

These outstanding young people have now raised more than £25,0000 for John’s Foundation, a fantastic fundraising achievement which will support a great many young people to follow their dreams.

Pictured above is one of the Junior Leaders who organised a football match at his Squadron and he told us:-

Just wanted to let you know the match was a complete success! All the cadets had a blast and even though my Squadron lost, all involved had a great time and some fantastic football was played. I collected £390 and after taking off the pitch cost the match turned a profit of £170 to go towards my fundraiser.

The Air Cadet Junior Leaders Course is recognised as one of the toughest courses available in the Air Cadets. It involves 7 months of intense training and culminates in Test Phase, a field leadership assesment, giving the students the ability to demonstrate their leadership skills. As part of the course the Junior Leaders are tasked with organising and running a fundraising event or activity to support the John Thornton Young Achievers Foundation. This forms part of their Level Two Certificate in Team Leadership from the Institute of Leadership and Management.

The fundraising support from the Junior Leaders has made a huge contribution to the level of financial help that the JTYAF can provide. We can’t thank the Course Directing Staff and students enough for their continued commitment and dedication to John’s Foundation.
