A member of 2358 Ferndown Squadron is travelling to RAF Akrotiri to learn more about the RAF and its base in Cyprus.

A local young student is scheduled to complete the expedition part of her Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award on Dartmoor. The JTYAF is pleased to sponsor her with new walking boots.

A dedicated young student from Ferndown Middle School has received a year’s worth of trumpet lessons to continue her passion of music.

A young Girl Guide from Wimborne District Guides is set to complete her Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award with a little help from the JTYAF in achieving the expedition section.

Simon is pursing an exciting career working with animals and is currently studying at Sparsholt College in Winchester. As part of his course he is taking part in an educational trip to South Africa in May 2016 where he will be working alongside vets and rangers in Kruger Park and Maholoholo.

A young cadet from the Dorset and Wiltshire Air Cadet wing has been selected to attend the International Air Cadet Exchange in Canada.

The John Thornton Young Achievers Foundation (JTYAF) has  handed over the keys to a 16 seater minibus which will serve Ferndown Upper School, Ferndown Middle School, West Moors Middle School, Beaucroft Foundation School, Ferndown First School, Parley First School, Hampreston First School and 2358 (Ferndown) Squadron Air Cadets.

Talented taekwondo champ Thomas has been training since the age of 4 and is ranked number 1 in Great Britain for his age. The JTYAF is proud to be able to sponsor his next adventure at the British Internationals in Germany. 

The JTYAF is very pleased to help a young Brownie’s dream come true to visit Disneyland Paris with the rest of her division.

Megan has been selected to represent Great Britain in Estonia next month for the Junior Women’s team in her first international powerlifting competition known as the EPF Classic. 

A teenager from Ferndown is set to travel to Peru in July 2017 with a group of students from Ringwood School, organised by Camps International. 

Pete Thornton was delighted to present the John Thornton Music Awards to eight talented musicians from the Dorset Music Service County Ensembles.

A student from QE School in Wimborne is set to travel to Borneo to help with community projects with Camps International. 

The JTYAF is pleased to contribute towards the Bournemouth Youth Marching Band to play at the Last Post ceremony, at the Menin Gate in Ypres.

A talented young person from Ferndown Upper School has been awarded a Macbook to help with her studies.

A Girl Guide from the 1st Ferndown Guides Unit is set to attend the District Summer Camp 2016.

Whilst at the Summer camp, she will experience team building and extreme activities such as canoeing, climbing and kayaking for personal development.

A talented musician from 1st Gaunts Guides is pursuing her passion to play the oboe. She has passed Grade 5 theory with distinction and has also her GCSE music qualification.

She is continuing her love of all things music by taking A Level Music, and wishes to reach Grade 8 and beyond.

The JTYAF is pleased to be able to support Ferndown Middle School towards purchasing a full set of TOCA African drums for the classroom.
