And he's off!! Dan sets off on his Epic Lands End to John O'Groats Challenge
/Dan is taking on the ultimate '40 for JT' Charity Challenge in support of the John Thornton Young Achievers Foundation (JTYAF). This isn't just any cycle ride; Dan's journey is the renowned LEJOG (Land’s End to John O’Groats) End to End Cycle, but with a twist.
He is setting off from Land’s End today and aims to finish in just 6 days at John O'Groats in Scotland.
Typically, this route covers around 950 miles and involves climbing over 38,000 feet, usually taking between 10-14 days to complete. However, Dan's route stretches the total distance to a whopping 1040 miles, with an elevation gain of over 40,000 feet. He'll pass through 40 counties, towns, and city municipal areas, with a special detour to Norton Manor Camp near Taunton, the home of John Thornton’s unit, 40 Commando Royal Marines
We are incredibly grateful to Customs Creations and Hudsons for generously sponsoring Dan’s challenge. Their support has enabled Dan to obtain two sets of cycling tops and shorts, along with a windproof jacket, ensuring he's well-equipped for this monumental journey. Hudsons has also kindly donated £250 in sponsorship to Dan’s JustGiving page
We wish Dan all the very best for his challenge and look forward to seeing his updates on our Facebook page.
