Beaucroft's Marathon Challenge Raises £4700!
/On Saturday, May 10, 2025, Team Beaucroft, consisting of dedicated staff from both School & College sites, as well as supportive family and friends, embarked on an extraordinary, sponsored walk - "40K for John Thornton's 40th.” This event aimed to raise funds for the John Thornton Young Achievers Foundation (JTYAF), a charity dear to Beaucroft, which has been consistently supporting and providing funds to the school since 2011. This walk was inspired by what would have been John Thornton's 40th birthday
Dedicated staff members undertook the challenge of completing either a full 40K or a 20K trek along the picturesque coast, starting at Sandbanks and concluding in Lymington. Despite not being seasoned walkers, Team Beaucroft embraced this endurance challenge with enthusiasm. The team was buoyed by the glorious weather and the tremendous support from passing members of the public.
We are thrilled to announce that the team smashed their fundraising target of £3000, raising an incredible £4700 for JTYAF! We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone for their generosity and support, which kept the team motivated throughout the journey.
This fantastic achievement not only highlights the commitment and community spirit of the Beaucroft Foundation School and College staff but also contributes significantly to the support of local young people through the work of the John Thornton Young Achievers Foundation.
Joe Barnett, Co-Headteacher at Beaucroft Foundation School & College, told us, "It was a wonderful event - an amazing team taking on a marathon challenge for a wonderful charity that has a long-standing connection with Beaucroft."
Pete Thornton, Chair of the JTYAF commented, “We are totally overwhelmed by this challenge and the kindness and generosity of almost 200 people who sponsored Team Beaucroft. Special thanks must also go to all those who took part. It was a tough challenge and an incredible fundraising achievement.”
For those who wish to continue supporting Team Beaucroft’s achievement and contribute to the JTYAF, their JustGiving page remains open for donations.
