Parley First School is a Local Authority maintained school catering for children aged between 5 and 9 years and the JTYAF was delighted to be able to offer an award to the school, where John was a pupil, for the first time in 2012. At Parley they believe that learning should be a positive experience for all with a fine balance of challenge and enjoyment.
Awards are made by nomination. There is therefore no application process.
The JTYAF supports young people from a wide range of youth organisations providing them with scholarships and bursaries to support their personal development and the pursuit of their ambitions.
The John Thornton Young Achievers Foundation (JTYAF) was set up in memory of John Thornton who was tragically killed in Afghanistan in 2008.
The JTYAF provides opportunities for young people to help them to develop as individuals and fulfil their ambitions in life as John was able to do.
