Beaucroft Foundation School |
Beaucroft Foundation School is a school for pupils with moderate learning difficulties, many of whom have additional complex difficulties and/or disabilities, mainly autistic spectrum disorders or sensory impairments. The school provides specialist provision for the eastern region of Dorset. The JTYAF awarded funding to the school for the first time in 2011 and are delighted with the results of this support.

The students will certainly make good use of the trike as the whole school is involved in a sponsored cycle, aiming to cycle the distance between Lands End and John O’Groats to raise money for Julia’s House and the British Heart Foundation.
The John Thornton Young Achievers Foundation funded a day for four students at Moors Valley Railway
The Foundation funded a day out for four students to Moors Valley Country Park and Forest where they enjoyed a day with the authentic steam trains at Moors Valley Railway. There are 17 steam locomotives in use on the railway which are all fuelled by coal, plus 2 diesel engines.
The students were given the opportunity to spend time in the workshop and were even allowed to drive the trains!
JTYAF funding provided a Cupcake Workshop for students at Julia’s Kitchen
Students thoroughly enjoyed decorating their cupcakes on the one day Cupcake Workshop. They learnt some trade secrets and were taught lots of effective decorating skills. They produced some very professional cupcakes using a number of decorating techniques, all in just one day. The problem was they were too good to eat!
