The trustees of the John Thornton Young Achievers Foundation (JTYAF) are delighted to announce that £75,000 has been allocated for awards to local young people for 2015. At their trustees meeting on Saturday the board agreed to increase funding this year making JTYAF awards accessible to even more young people.

The JTYAF supports sixteen local youth organisations which include schools, Scouts, Guides, the Air Training Corps and the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme.  Literally hundreds of local young people now have access to funding to support them in the pursuit of their ambitions.

Since it was formed in 2008, in memory of Lt John Thornton who was tragically killed in Afghanistan, over 750 young individuals have benefitted from funding and the charity has supported numerous school projects.

Pete Thornton, JTYAF Chairman commented, “The foundation is a wonderful legacy for John and he would be proud to see that so many young people have realised their ambitions with support from the JTYAF.  This support would not possible without the fantastic efforts of all our fundraisers and supporters.  We can’t thank them enough and we look forward to an exciting year ahead.”

The JTYAF would like to thank the team at Porsche Bournemouth for their kindness and hospitality in hosting their trustees meeting.
